Mulbury is nearing completion on the first properties in a development of more than 80 family homes set to breathe life into a formerly derelict site in Stockport.
The scheme, featuring 87 properties in Hazel Grove, is being built by residential developer Mulbury, on behalf of Viaduct Housing Partnership – the development partnership between Stockport Homes and Stockport Council.
Close to the A6 Buxton Road, the site, known as Melford, features 59 homes and 28 apartments, including 80 classed as affordable homes with 68 of those shared ownership and 12 for social rent.
Designed by Calderpeel Architects, the properties are ideal for a range of owners from professionals, couples and families to those looking to retire. Included are three and four bed semi detached and detached homes, and one and two bed apartments.
Glyn Fazackerley, construction director for Mulbury, said the homes would soon be handed over to Viaduct Housing Partnership.
He added: “These distinctive properties are in a highly desirable postcode in one of the region’s most popular commuter areas.
“There is a major demand for affordable homes within the local community and it’s great to see a former brownfield site brought back to life and to become a bustling community.”
The properties are a short distance from Stockport town centre, and just nine miles from Manchester city centre, with easy access to the M60, Hazel Grove and Stockport railway stations, making them ideal for commuters.
The area includes a wide range of green spaces including Bramhall Park, and plenty of local schools, shops and entertainment.
Ken Lee, Chair of Viaduct Board, added: “This scheme will help to provide homes for people across Stockport, offering a range of Shared ownership, Rent and Outright Sale properties, this desirable locations, is the perfect place for a first home or for a family to thrive. The team have done a great job and I’m excited to see it when it’s finished.”
Mulbury is also working on a wide range of other housing developments across the North West.
