Specialist affordable homes developer Mulbury Homes has started work on a £9.5million affordable housing scheme in Warrington.
Mulbury is working with Merseyside-based housing association Helena Partnerships to deliver 92 homes in Thelwall Lane in the Latchford area of the town.
The two, three and four-bedroom homes and two-bed apartments will be available for rent, shared equity and shared ownership, bringing a range affordable home ownership options to local people, including first time buyers and those who want to get onto the property ladder.
The development is within easy reach of Warrington town-centre and the surrounding area, with excellent motorway and rail connections to Liverpool, Manchester and London.
The homes are being built on behalf of Warrington Borough Council which has chosen Helena Partnerships as a preferred developer. It is Helena Partnerships’ first development outside the borough of St Helens.
Site work has begun with the first phase of building, numbering 40 homes, to be completed in November 2012.
Greg Mulligan, a director of Mulbury Homes, said: “This four-acre former industrial site has provided a great regeneration opportunity to create a development that meets the housing needs of local families and key workers in the area and also provides homes residents can be proud of.
“We have worked closely with Helena Partnerships and all local stakeholders to ensure this scheme offers the right mix of high-quality affordable homes that are energy efficient and meet exacting design standards.”
Steve Moore, Executive Director of Business Development at Helena Partnerships, said: “Helena is passionate about creating quality homes and building strong and vibrant communities, and we will be bringing these values and aspirations with us to our Thelwall Lane development.
“The homes we are building will contribute to giving local people an opportunity to enjoy affordable homes in a popular area, and we are thrilled to have been selected as a development partner in Warrington. During this project we will be working with a selection of experienced and specialised organisations and partners from within the local and surrounding area.”
