Contractors have completed work on 22 new homes in east Manchester that have been designed to provide ‘house-share-friendly’ living opportunities for people who can’t yet afford their own home.
Mulbury Homes has handed over the energy-efficient properties to Eastlands Homes which is making them available for market rent.
The £2.3m development, which consists of semi-detached properties, has been built on the former Longsight public house at Great Lake Close off Kirkmanshulme Lane.

Planning permission has been secured for a development of 80 new affordable homes on a former industrial site in Salford.
Mulbury Homes is delivering the scheme in Clifford Street, Eccles, for social landlord City West Housing Trust, who is making the new homes available for affordable rent and shared ownership.
The £9m development will utilise a £2.2 million grant from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), secured through its 2015/18 Affordable Homes Programme. Continue reading

Mulbury Homes has appointed Kevin Morris as construction manager as it prepares to start work on up to 12 new sites in the next year.
The specialist affordable housing developer, which works with some of the UK’s biggest housing providers, is on course to develop almost a thousand new homes in the next two years. It is also planning to bring a number of its own open market developments to fruition.
In a newly-created role, Kevin will help manage Mulbury’s relationships with contractors to ensure the safe and effective delivery of its projects across the region. He will also help Mulbury deliver building work directly on some of its projects.

Mulbury Homes has underlined its commitment to young construction workers with the launch of its apprenticeship scheme.
Mulbury has already provided training opportunities for 11 apprentices, with a further 12 construction-led placements lined up this year.
The apprentices are being placed through the Constructing the Future Lancashire scheme run by The Calico Group and are working on all of Mulbury’s new projects across the North West.

Two “invaluable and inspirational” charities based in Wavertree, Liverpool, are to benefit from donations made as part of a new affordable housing development being built in the area by Mulbury Homes.
Sanctuary Family Support and the WAM Friendship Centre have both received the donations from Mulbury which is developing over 100 new homes in Picton Road on behalf of housing and regeneration organisation Riverside.
The gesture was made as part of the Mulbury in the Community initiative which supports local good causes in the communities where the company is building new homes.

Mulbury Homes has bolstered its house building expertise with the appointment of former Keepmoat Homes regional managing director David Wroe.
David joins Mulbury Homes as head of partnerships and regeneration. The 41-year-old has over 20-years’ experience in the regeneration and development of residential property schemes, having previously worked for Beazer Homes and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council.
David, who lives in Preston, will head up the firm’s Mulbury Partnerships division, helping secure and deliver affordable housing schemes alongside public and private sector landowners.

Contractors working on a new £4.4m specialist housing scheme in Cumbria have managed to salvage a historic stone carving on behalf of the local history society.
Work has been ongoing since April 2014 to demolish the former Huntingtons Garage site in Wigton, along with an adjoining house, to make way for a scheme of 42 apartments aimed at older people, those with disabilities or sensory impairments, and adults with learning disabilities.
Members of Solway History Society got in touch with Mulbury Homes to ask if the small stone sculpture above the door on the house, known as East View, could be saved.

The £3.2million scheme has been handed over to Great Places Housing Group which will make the homes available for affordable rent.

Mulbury Homes has started work on a £11.6m development of over 100 new homes in Wavertree, Liverpool.
The scheme, which is being developed on behalf of housing association and regeneration specialist Riverside, will revitalise a derelict five acre site on a key route into Liverpool City Centre.

The controversial bedroom tax has dominated discussions on housing policy over the last couple of years and led to a significant change in the type and size of new homes being built.
The under-occupancy charge, which cuts the benefit paid to social housing tenants who are deemed to have a spare bedroom, has led to an increase in the number of people who are unable to pay their rent.
